Barefoot woman rescued from Bell Rock

YCSO responded to Bell Rock in the Village of Oak Creek this week on a report of a woman stuck. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says a deputy hiked to the woman’s location and determined a rescue would be needed to get her down safely. The woman was positioned on the side of a rock face with a 20-foot drop and was unable to sit because the ledge was so small. She was not wearing shoes and was very cold due to lack of a jacket. Sedona Fire, Yavapai County Search and Rescue and DPS Ranger Helicopter used a short haul method to rescue the woman. The 34-year old Canadian hiker told deputies she had taken off her shoes so she could climb easier and hid them in a bush with her purse. The woman was not injured.
