Central Arizona Fire and Medical Fire responded to a wildland fire in Chino Valley

Central Arizona Fire and Medical Fire responded to a wildland fire in the area of South Reed Rd in Chino Valley Monday afternoon. Fire Marshal Rick Chase says the fire was started by someone burning with a permit and even though weather conditions were very mild, the fire had no problem spreading quickly. He says the fire was quickly contained to approximately 5 acres of open grassland. No structures or vehicles were lost in this fire. Chase says vegetation in our area is extremely dry, and it’s important to not get distracted. He also says to be sure and follow all of the rules of the permit. Including having a water source nearby and to not use a torch.
