Transformer Fire Leads to Power Outage in Prescott Valley

Power went out in parts of Prescott Valley Wednesday morning a little before 10:30. APS Spokesman Alan Bunnell says the outage area was Lake Shore Drive to Forth Street and Kings Highway to Truwood Drive. He says the cause was a transformer fire which lead to equipment failure. Initially over 1,300 customers were affected, but within 45 minutes power was rerouted and restored to the majority of them. Central Arizona Fire Officials say several people needed help after the outage left them trapped in an elevator.
