Texas woman reascued after being stranded near Grand Canyon for 5 days
A 24-year-old woman from Texas has been rescued after being stranded for 5 days in a remote area near the south rim of the Grand Canyon. DPS officials say the woman’s vehicle ran out of gas and that she was prepared and followed the proper survival procedures for the situation. The woman had no cell phone signal and eventually walked to a place where she could call 911. Officials say the call dropped before police could identify her location but a helicopter was able to locate her empty vehicle. When the helicopter landed the crew found notes by the victim stating she was going to walk east along the road to get cell service; she was eventually located on the road. The woman was and treated for exposure and taken to FMC.
