Goodwin Fire Forces Evacuation of Breezy Pines and Parts of Mayer

Highway-69 is currently closed in both directions between I-17 and the Highway-169 junction near Prescott because of the Goodwin Fire near Mayer. Additional evacuations and pre-evacuations are in place as the fire is moving north and east. Yavapai County Emergency Management Spokesperson Marcie Slay says mandatory evacuation has been ordered for everything west of Main Street in Mayer. Evacuations are also in effect for the Breezy Pines subdivision as well as for the area north of the Goodwin-Mayer Road, and west of Highway 69 from Mayer to Poland Junction. Pre-evacuations have been ordered for Walker, Potato Patch, Mountain Pines Acres, and Mount Union. Pine Flats remains evacuated; officials say some structures have been lost in that area.

The Red Cross Shelter and Animal Disaster Services Shelter have been moved to Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley. YCSO says tonight’s community meeting at 6:30 has also been moved from Mayer High School to Bradshaw Mountain High School. At last report the Goodwin Fire was 5% contained at 4,400 acres.
