Goodwin Fire almost 21,000 acres/New Evacuations Issued

The Goodwin Fire, which is just 1% contained and almost 21,000 acres, has forced the evacuation of several more communities. According to Marlyn Summers with Yavapai County Emergency Management, Walker, the Upper Blue Hills area of Dewey, Potato Patch and Mount Union have been ordered to evacuate; Meyer, Poland Junction, Chapparral Hills, Breezy Pines & Pine Flat remain evacuated. Summers asks those who are evacuating to leave a white towel or rag on your gate or front door. That will let firefighters and the Sheriff’s Office know that you have left.

The Red Cross Shelter is at Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley. Highway-69 remains closed from I-17 to Highway-169. YCSO is asking residents to sign up for Code Red on their website at www.ycsoaz.gov. For evacuation information visit the Yavapai County Emergency Management and YCSO Facebook pages.
