Bullet nearly hits Prescott Police Officer responding to prowler call
Early Tuesday morning, Prescott Police responded to a 911 call in which the man claimed someone was outside his apartment door and threatening to break in. Deputy Chief Amy Bonney says the 911 caller was identified as 61-year old Leon Carter. Responding Officers could see a man inside the apartment in question and he did not appear to be in distress. Officers then approached the apartment to make contact with the occupant. As they drew closer to the door, Carter fired a round through the front door. The round came within 3-4 inches of one of the responding officer’s heads. Bonnie says Carter exited the house and was detained; inside officers located the gun. The round Carter fired traveled through a neighboring wall and eventually impacted a vehicle in the parking lot. There were no injuries. Carter was jailed on weapons charges.
