Authorities Looking For Armed Suspect in Williams Area

YCSO is looking for a suspect described as armed and dangerous. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says Monday morning a YCSO K9 Deputy attempted to stop a maroon 4 door sedan for a traffic violation on eastbound I-40 in the Ash Fork area. The vehicle failed to yield and a male passenger appeared to be thrown from the vehicle and was detained. D’Evelyn says the deputy continued following the vehicle at speeds over of 100 mph until the vehicle crashed into a culvert near Bearzona. At that point another man in the vehicle was detained.  The suspect being sought, identified as John Freeman, got out of the vehicle fired at least one shot from a handgun towards deputies and fled. Freeman is describes as being 6-feet tall 170-pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair; he has a tattoo on his left arm. A search involving several agencies is underway. Barizona was locked-down as a result of the incident, as were schools in the Williams area. In you see the suspect call 911 immediately, do not approach him.
