Type 3 Team takes control of Tinder Fire

A Type 3 Team is taking control of the Tinder Fire near Clint’s Well today. The blaze remains at just over 16,300-acres in size and is 79% contained. Over the weekend the number of structures destroyed in the human caused fire grew to 33-primary residences and 54-minor structures. Officials say smoke production from the blaze has increased with the hotter, drier air under the high pressure area that moved in over the weekend. The fire will continue to produce smoke as remaining pockets of unburned fuel and burning logs and stumps within the fire perimeter continue to burn out. Winds today are expected to blow smoke towards Winslow and the Hopi Reservation. The closure area for the fire remains in place.
