Indian Meadow Fire caused by person burning weeds

As of 9-pm last night, fire crews had made significant progress on the Indian Meadow Fire burning north of Williams and south of Tusayan. The fire started Monday afternoon as the result of a person burning weeds on their property. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuations within a 1-mile radius of Woodlands Ranch Road and a pre-evacuation notice within a 5-mile radius. Some 70-fire personnel are working to douse the fire with the help of two helicopters. Coconino County Sheriff’s Officials lifted the evacuation at 7:30 last night. Officials say the current investigation indicates the fire was started by a resident of Woodland Ranch Road who was burning yard trimmings when the fire went out of control. Updated information shows the fire burned about 100-acres, one unoccupied home, multiple vehicles and several out buildings.
