ADOT to display number of traffic fatalities year to date on website

ADOT officials say traffic fatalities in Arizona are climbing. ADOT Director John Hailkowski says there have been 292 traffic fatalities since January 1st. To be able to see the life-and-death consequences of selfish driving, ADOT is placing a feature its website, azdot.gov, displaying the number of people killed in traffic collisions so far this year. Hailkowski says the aim in sharing this number and updating it weekly is to make the public aware that drivers’ actions have real-life consequences. He says more than 90 percent of crashes are caused by driver behavior. Speeding, impairment, distraction and aggressive driving are leading factors in fatal crashes.
