April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month-Pedestrians

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. According to the National Safety Council, motor vehicle fatalities are up 6% from 2015, with more than 40,000 people killed in 2017. Officials say cell phones and other digital distractions pose a threat to our safety and just one second is all it takes to change a life forever. According to AAA, distracted pedestrians account for a high number of traffic fatalities; siting cell phone use and listening to music as the top two reasons pedestrians are increasingly unaware of traffic safety issues. Officials advise everyone to put down their cell phones, turn down their music and focus on the possible dangers around them.
